Tumeric Acne Teatment

23/4/2009 ·

For thousands of years it has been used as a necessary part of Asian medicine.

The bulbous root of the Curcuma Longa is the source of this spice that has been harvested, dried and crushed. It has many uses from being used as a main component of curries to the prevention of different forms of cancer.

It is believed that the Indian people are rated the lowest sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease and this is put down to their diet containing turmeric.

Tumeric Phytochemical properties

The reason this spice is so potent a healer is that curcumin, a molecular oily compound, is a phytochemical with many healing properties. These properties include being a very effective anti inflammatory, antiseptic, disinfectant, anti bacterial and forceful antioxidant.

Acne begins its life as a comedo, an enlarged hair follicle filled with bacteria and oil and if this is left untreated then worsening conditions of acne will appear. This condition tends to go through the following phases.

Papule - small firm pink bump.

Pustule - small lesions that contain pus and they are red at the base with a white top.

Node/cyst - very painful inflamed pus filled lesions lodged deep within the skin and often they leave scars.

How Tumeric Works

So how does turmeric and acne work together to relieve these symptoms? The antiseptic and anti bacterial properties cleanse and break down the bacteria causing the pus to come out while the anti-inflammatory properties break down the inflammation removing the redness, heat and swelling and the added bonus is that it is also a good pain killer.

It can be taken orally or taken as a poultice and the method I use is in the form of a multi nutritional supplement, which was first introduced to it by a friend last year. I have never looked back since I started taking them as it has over 70 life enhancing plant nutrient extracts that include resveratrol, decaffeinated green tea, aloe vera and many others.

Since taking them I have noticed my energy levels increase and my skin is looking better as turmeric and acne make a winning combination to keep my skin clear.

What you can do for your acne prevention

23/4/2009 ·

So you have acne or skin prone to getting acne and you want to stop this from happening. Well I have a couple of answers and ideas for you to stop zits and acne in their tracks.

First Make sure that the outside of your body is clean. Wash your skin a couple of extra times a day. This does not mean that oyu want to strip the natural oils from your skin but you do want to block the oils from getting trapped in the pores. Wash as usual but make sure every 3 to 4 hours that you are rinsing your face with water and at least one extra time using some kind of soap to clean your face.

Soap, use clean soap to avoid acne problems. Any soap will not do on your face. You can use some scented soaps and harsher soaps on the rest of your body but when it comes to your face make sure that you are keeping your face clean using a glycerin soap, tea tree oil soap or at least a clean body wash that is unscented and does not have any chemicals in it. If you are washing your face a few times a day treat it as a sensitive area like you should.

Eat cleaner foods. I know that many dermatologists will disagree with this but it is important to note that most people with bad skin eat greasy or heavily processed foods. You want ot keep your food intake as clean as possible. Stay away from pop and chocolate, no fried foods at all and try to eat as many raw foods as possible (uncooked).

Drink lots of water. I know that some will fight me on this but I know for myself that when I am drinking at least 10 glasses of clean water a day I am feeling a lot better and my skin stays hydrated and it definitley makes my body clean including my skin. pop, tea, coffee and gatorade do not count as water so do not use them as much and drink water instead.

These are the basics of keeping your skin and body away from getting acne and these tips will help you avoid getting acne so if you are not doing these start doing them starting today.

I now want to give you a few more tips for finally clearing up your skin and getting rid of that acne once and for all. Well here are a few tips that should help.

Smoking? Why smoke? Many people still smoke even with all of the information out there on how to quit smoking and the health benefits of being a non smoker, well here is one for reason. Smoking causes acne. I know that smoking is bad for acne because I had problems with it years ago and the acne went away one I quit smoking and drinking too much.

Drinking alcohol causes acne
. Another one of those seemingly unrelated ideas for getting rid of acne is making sure that alcohol does not litter your body and help free radicals create acne and other skin problems. Alcohol its a major cause of acne the way I look at it and all of those people that are not prone to acne are not going to get it whether they drink alcohol or not but those of us that are blessed with the problem have to watch our drinking.

Using colon cleanses
. This is one great way to help your skin and your digestion but some people are not in favor of it so be aware that you may get some resistance. Using psyllium husk or other high fiber methods even including of course apple fasts will help you and even using some of the more powerful colon cleansing formulas will help a lot in improving your health instead of just your skin.

Reduce stress
. I know and you are probably aware as well that high stress times are going to be times that cause a lot of acne to happen. If you can just set aside a few minutes a few times a day to concentrate on solutioning your problems and another few minutes to just let the stress fall away from you perhaps in meditation then your acne will improve as well.

Sleep enough to be well rested. I have to tell people to get eight hours of sleep a night. I need that much sleep I know but other people need only 6 hours of sleep a day. Regardless of the amount of sleep that you get now make sure that hte sleep that you are getting is in fact enough. The worst thing that you can do for you mind is be sleep deprived, you lose concentration easily, have problem solving issues and suffer from bad judgement, all from short chaing sleep.

As you can see many of these tiups are not what oyu would consider skin care tips but instead are ideas that will help you make your body more healthy and this will in turn lead to a massive reduction in acne breakouts and zits in general.

What is Super Acne and how to treat it?

23/4/2009 ·

Eighty-five percent of the teenage population battles acne in some form and in most cases, there will be significant improvement of the outbreak when treated with a combination of medication including antibiotics.

However, dermatologists are now warning that a new strain of acne is resistant to antibiotics.

CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton sat down with Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith to talk more about this disturbing trend.

According to Ashton, super acne has probably been around for a while, but more dermatologists are starting to see more and more of it now — “because just like with a lot of forms of resistant bacteria, it’s becoming more refractory or difficult to treat.”

Super acne, which is a bacteria, can be classified as a “bug.”

“We call this a discussion about bugs and drugs,” Dr. Ashton explained. “This is a bacterium known as P. Acnes, and it’s part of the skin flora. So what’s difficult about it is that a bacteria that we normally see with acne are normally very susceptible to antibiotics.”

Unfortunately, unlike other forms of acne, super acne is not very treatable and “about 50 percent of bacteria that cause acne can be resistant,” Ashton explained.

A patient might not find out right away if he or she has the resistant bacteria.

“That’s the important thing is that, you know, acne can be difficult to treat for a lot of cases,” she explained. “But once a dermatologist starts to put you on antibiotics, within weeks to months, your skin should really clear up. So when it doesn’t, that’s when you would start suspecting it.”

“So what alternative are you left with if you’ve got the ’super bug?’” Smith asked.

“Well, that’s the key thing here. The way that antibiotics normally work is they reduce inflammation and cut down obviously on the bacteria, the super growth that forms within this skin unit. When that doesn’t work, then you have to move to things like retinoids or Accutane, [which]is the brand name,” she said. “Alternative treatments like tea tree oil and things like benzoyl peroxide cut down on oil and unclog the pores.”

With the over-use of antibiotics today, their effectiveness is no longer what they used to be.

“Well, yes. And we have to put it into historical context. In the past we used antibiotics because it saved people’s lives. Now they’re used because they’re quick, they’re cheap, they’re effective,” Ashton said. “And what’s really sad here, Harry, is that for people suffering with acne it’s emotionally and physically scarring.”

Low GI Diet for acne?

23/4/2009 ·

A low-GI diet developed in Florida, the South Beach Diet, should be considered as a potential treatment for acne, a visiting expert is to tell Australian dermatologists.

According to Professor Brian Berman of the University of Miami, a study conducted in a mostly female population of almost 3000 participants who followed the “South Beach Diet”, showed that acne improved in almost 80% of cases, usually within three months.

The success of the diet on acne symptoms allowed 91% of the participants to scale back their acne treatment, Professor Berman will tell the Australasian College of Dermatologists’ annual scientific meeting on the Gold Coast next month.

“The South Beach Diet may be an additional modality in the treatment of acne,” says Professor Berman   While recent scientific data supported the use of low-GI diets in acne treatment, it was previously not known what effect the SBD had on the condition, Professor Berman says.

The South Beach Diet was created in the 1980s as an alternative to unpopular low fat diets, and is based on replacing “bad carbs” and “bad fats” with “good” ones by emphasising vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean protein.

Green Tea to Treat Acne

23/4/2009 ·

The extract from green tea is known to be very beneficial for the skin.

Green tea helps to remove toxins from the body and recent studies have shown that green tea is just as effective (if not more effective) than benzoyl peroxide when treating acne.

Green tea has antioxidant and antibacterial properties which fight against acne in many ways. For example, it gives an instant soothing feeling to sensitive, irritated skin and can reduce the redness, and inflammation that accompanies acne outbreaks.

Green tea is also known to help correct the most frustrating of all, hormonal imbalances that contribute to adult hormonal acne each and every month.
Green tea is said to work best as a home remedy for acne when used from the inside out — in other words when you drink it.

In addition you can also use green tea extract. This is available in several forms. For example you can apply it topically using a cream or lotion and it can also be taken in the form of a pill or tablet.  Also, simply placing a warm tea bag on acne lesions helps provide instant soothing effects, helps draw out toxins and promotes faster healing.

If you choose to drink the tea, avoid having sugar with it as that will neutralize the beneficial effect of the green tea.  Also keep in mind to get the best results, the more you drink, the better.
